Exploring the Interaction between Vancomycin/Teicoplanin and Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2

The recent pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has spread to over 100 countries, infected more than 47 million people and resulted in 1.2 deaths worldwide until October. It is well known that, the starts an infection binding its Receptor Binding Domain (RBD) of spike protein human Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, strenuous efforts had been made prevent infection. However, no successful drugs or vaccines have appeared. Herein, molecular docking simulations were carried out study interaction between RBD two glycopeptide antibiotics (Vancomycin Teicoplanin). Key residues pocket highlighted free energies calculated. Our results suggested that Vancomycin Teicoplanin, as natural accepted antibiotics, could block ACE2 which might be developed potential against SARS-CoV-2.
